speakers
Elena Gryazina
Director of Energy Systems MSc Program

Elena Gryazina graduated with honors from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and got her Candidate of Sciences degree from the Institute of Control Sciences, Russian Academy of Sciences, under supervision of Prof. Boris Polyak. Her thesis was related to the structure of stability domain in parameter space for linear systems control exploiting algebraic geometry technique for this engineering problem. Later on she was involved in research in randomized methods in control and optimization.
Her areas of interest are very broad and include robust control, convex and nonconvex optimization, Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods, PageRank problems. At the Institute of Control Sciences Elena participated in joint research projects Robust and adaptive control of complex systems (2008-2010) with CNRS France; New Monte-Carlo-like methods in control, and applications within information-technology (2008-2010) and Signal identification and estimation methods for cognitive radio wireless networks (2011-2013) with Politechnico di Torino, Italy. She was a postdoc in Universite Joseph Fourier, Grenoble, France, and a visiting researcher at the University of Bergamo, Italy.
In addition to research activities, Elena is teaching Convex Analysis and Optimization at the Yandex Data Analysis School. She is a secretary and a program manager of the steering committees of Russian traditional summer schools for young researchers Control, Information and Optimization. Elena served as a Grand Award Judge at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in 2012 as well as at Rost ISEF (Intel affiliated contest) in 2013-2014.
