Photonics & Quantum Materials

Program director and professor Mikhail Skvortsov. Mikhail graduated with a Master degree from the MIPT. His further scientific career has been closely related to the Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics, where he started as a PhD student, received the Doctor of Science degree, and is working presently as a senior research scientist. His recent research activity is related with the physics of strongly disordered superconductors and chiral metals, nonequilibrium superconductivity, electron transport in quantum wires, and Anderson localization of Majorana fermions.

Professor Arkady Shipulin, Associate director of the Center for Photonics and Quantum Materials. Arkady has received his PhD in MIPT. Prof. Shipulin is a coordinator of working group of Photonics in BRICS, member of multiple R&D committees in Russia and abroad, reviewer of international journals etc. Prior to Skoltech he acquired his international experience in places such as Technical University of Darmstadt, Friedrich Schiller University Jena and University of Salt Lake City. Prof. Shipulin's current areas of research interests include various application of photonic integrated circuits, hybrid photonic structures in fiber optic telecom and optical sensors, laser physics and optoelectronics.
We are Skoltech – a new international English-speaking STEM university that was founded by the group of world-renowned scientists in 2011 in Moscow, Russia. In just 8 years, we united dozens of researchers and globally renowned professors, built a stunning campus, set up world-class labs and made it to the top 100 young universities in the Nature Index.
